The basics

What is a residential proxy?

A residential proxy sends your request through an IP address that an internet provider assigned to a home connection. The website you call sees an ordinary household visitor in the country or city you picked, not a server in a datacenter, and the reply comes back through the same route.

Features

What is included

Every feature below comes with every plan of this product, at no extra cost.

City, state and country targeting

Add a country code to the user name and every request leaves from that country. Add a city to narrow it further. Targeting is free on every plan and never changes the price per GB.

Rotating and sticky sessions

Each request gets a new IP by default. Add a session key and the same IP is held for as long as you ask, from 1 minute to 24 hours, while the pool keeps the line alive.

HTTP, HTTPS and SOCKS5

One host, two ports and one login. Any client that speaks a proxy protocol works unchanged: browsers, cURL, Python, Node.js, Scrapy, Puppeteer, Playwright and Selenium.

Unlimited concurrent sessions

Open as many parallel connections as your job needs. The plan counts gigabytes, not threads, so a crawler with 500 workers costs the same per GB as a script with one.

Usage you can read

The dashboard shows traffic left on every plan, the expiry date of monthly plans and the exact login for each product, ready to copy into your tools.

Traffic that never expires

Pay as you go gigabytes stay on the plan until you use them. Monthly plans give the lowest rate and run for 30 days from the purchase.

Sessions

How do rotating and sticky sessions work?

Every option is a key you add to the user name. There is no second endpoint, no plan upgrade and no surcharge.

Rotating

user

The default. Each request leaves from a different residential IP, which is what you want when you collect many pages and no page depends on the previous one.

Sticky session

user-session-a1b2c3

Holds one IP across requests. Add ttl-<minutes> to set how long it holds: 10 minutes by default, up to 1,440 minutes (24 hours).

Targeted sticky

user-country-us-city-chicago-session-a1b2c3-ttl-30

Country, city and session keys combine in any order, so one login covers every location and every session length.

Targeting keys

KeyWhat it selectsExample
country-A country by its two letter ISO code.country-de
city-A city in lowercase, spaces written as underscores.city-new_york
state-A US state or another first level region.state-texas
session-6 to 10 letters or digits that name a sticky session.session-k7p2x9
ttl-Minutes a sticky session holds its IP, 1 to 1,440.ttl-60

FAQ

Residential proxies: questions and answers

How much do residential proxies cost?
Pay as you go traffic is $0.594 per GB from 60 GB and $0.474 per GB from 1,000 GB, and it never expires. Monthly plans cost $0.294 per GB: 200 GB is $58.80 and 500 GB is $147.00, valid for 30 days.
What is the difference between rotating and sticky residential proxies?
Rotating gives every request a new IP from the pool. Sticky keeps one IP for a session you name, from 1 minute to 24 hours. Both use the same login and the same traffic; you switch by adding or removing the session key.
Can I target a specific city?
Yes. Add the country and city keys to the user name, for example country-us-city-chicago. City and state targeting are included in every plan at the same price per GB.
Which protocols are supported?
HTTP and HTTPS on port 7000 and SOCKS5 on port 7001 of res.proxyhive.cc, with the same user name and password.
How many threads can I run?
There is no limit on concurrent sessions. You pay for traffic, so you can run as many parallel requests as your target and your own hardware allow.
Does unused traffic expire?
Pay as you go traffic stays on your plan until you use it. Monthly plans include their traffic for 30 days from the purchase, which is why their rate per GB is lower.

When residential proxies are the right choice

Websites treat addresses differently depending on who owns them. A request from a hosting company range says a server is calling; a request from a home broadband line says a person is browsing. Many retail, travel and search sites slow down, challenge or block the first and answer the second normally. Residential proxies give your requests the second kind of address.

That makes them the default for collecting public web data at scale: product pages and prices, search results, reviews, maps listings and localized content. When a target does not check the owner of the address, a datacenter proxy does the same job for less, and our datacenter plans start at $0.18 per GB.

How the rotating pool behaves

The pool holds 47M+ addresses in 190+ countries. Without a session key, each new connection is matched with an available home IP in the location you asked for, so a crawler that sends 10,000 requests sees thousands of different addresses. With a session key, the gateway keeps sending that session through one address until the time you set runs out or the home device goes offline, then picks a new one in the same place.

A sticky session is the right tool for flows that span several pages: a search followed by a product page, a login followed by account pages, or a checkout preview. Rotating is the right tool when every request stands alone.

Choosing between pay as you go and a monthly plan

Pay as you go suits work that comes in bursts: a quarterly research project, a client job of unknown size or a new scraper you are still tuning. The traffic does not expire, so nothing is wasted. A monthly plan suits steady jobs that use the same volume every month, such as daily price tracking, and gives the lowest price per GB.

You can hold both at once. The dashboard lists every plan with its own traffic counter, and every plan uses the same login format.

Getting started

Create an account with one access token, add credit with crypto, choose a plan and copy the login from the dashboard. A first request takes one line: curl -x http://USER:PASS@res.proxyhive.cc:7000 https://example.com. The developer page lists every key and code samples for Python, Node.js, PHP and Go.
